Ryan's mission experiences

Ryan lived with the Battista family for a while and they were so good to him. Sister Battista loves to cook and made sure Ryan and his companion had plenty to eat. When Ryan was sick she made him stay home and rest and brought him chicken soup. She also taught Ryan and his companion how to keep their white shirts from turning gray. She called me to thank me for an Willow Tree angel I had sent her and she told me that, though she is a Catholic, she has a grandson serving a mission in Texas and she has loved Ryan like she would want people to love her grandson. Ryan was sad to leave their home and has kept in touch. In fact, today is his P-day before his 21st birthday on Saturday so the Battista's invited him for dinner. Sister Battista made filet mignon and her special chocolate birthday cake. We are so thankful for great people like the Battistas.

Ryan really grew to love this man and was given permission to go back to a former area to attend his baptism.
