Spring Break Trip

We had a terrific time on our vacation. Bob planned the whole trip, and I was surprised when he handed me a binder with the itinerary, maps, hotel reservations, sight-seeing information, etc. We went to the dinosaur museum in Price on the way to Moab. That night we ate at La Hacienda in Moab and Bob thought it was the best Mexican food he had ever tasted. We all liked it so much that we ate there for lunch the next day before we headed out of town. I asked the cooks for the ingredients of the salsa because there was an ingredient I couldn't identify. Micaela said, "Where is Uncle Bob when you need him?" It ended up being oregano and I have since come close to replicating their salsa recipe.

Ben and Micaela under Delicate Arch. It's a great hike!

Since Ben was a baby when we last came to Mesa Verde, it was time for another trip. It's remarkable. We had ran into a family from Pleasant Grove and had a fun visit with a couple from Essex, England.

Ben and Micaela at Four Corners. Bob enjoyed speaking with the Navajos who were selling their wares. One woman asked him how he had learned to speak Navajo so well. He explained that he had served as an LDS missionary thirty years ago. She asked him what he thought about what was happening to his fellow church members in Texas. Bob tried to explain to her that the FLDS church is a completely different religion, but no matter what he said, it didn't seem that she was convinced.

Bob was excited to see that there was a church at Tees Nos Pos, an area where he served for six months. He lived in a trailer on this same property.

Micaela in front of a hogan. Bob lived in one of these when he first arrived on the reservation.

While on the reservation, we ate at Bob's favorite little restaurant and all had unforgettable Navajo tacos. On the way home, we drove through Monument Valley. Southern Utah is an amazing place!
