Suzuki Institute--phewww!

The week of Suzuki Institute is always demanding, but this year it was particularly grueling because of my heavy work load at the library and play rehearsals for Micaela and I. It was a fun and fruitful time, though. One of the most enjoyable parts of the week was a fiddling class by Aaron Ashton (below left) and performing in concert with the Aaron Ashton Band (in the back below).

Janis Wittrig was Micaela's master class teacher and helped her with her vibrato. She also helped her pick a much more comfortable chin rest.

Yes, that is a crucifix above Mrs. Wittrig's head. The Institute is held at a Catholic School now and there is beautiful artwork everywhere.

Micaela played 2nd violin in her chamber group. Yi Ching Fedkenheuer was a fun teacher--bubbly, positive and patient, the latter being especially important with this group of girls who had a hard time focusing.

Robert Richardson was Micaela's performance teacher and he was fabulous! He has a way of bringing out the best in the group and yet making it fun.

Micaela at her orchestra concert. She had a lot to smile about in this class because Dominick Fiore is a very funny man. She also could've been smiling because this was the last day of Institute!
